Chocolate is made from Forastero cocoa beans that grew in the South Pacific in shallow but very fertile volcanic soil along the beaches of the small Vanuatu archipelago. Vanuatu Forastero cocoa beans are incredibly rare, making each bean a precious gem. Vanuatu looks like a paradise, but its tropical climate - with frequent cyclones and a difficult monsoon season - suggests that growing cocoa is not for the faint of heart.

Cocoa fermentation for our chocolate Vanuatu 44 takes place on the island of Malekula. Local farmers have a long tradition of quality and together we guarantee that the cocoa produced here is a real national treasure.
